“ Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me”. - Jonah 1:2

"People of Faith

We’ve all heard the story of Jonah!

God had specifically commanded Jonah to arise and go to Nineveh to tell them to get their act together, but instead, Jonah took it upon himself to make his way to Tarshish to hide from God.

Little did Jonah know, we cannot hide from God. Scripture tells us in Hebrews 4:13

“No one can hide from God. His eyes see everything we do…”

Jeremiah 23:24 declares:

“ Can a man hide himself in secret places so that I cannot see him? declares the Lord. Do I not fill heaven and earth? declares the Lord.”

Which leads us to today’s MidweekMotivation urging you not to be like Joshua.

What has God told you to do that you haven’t done?

The book of Jonah is a clear illustration of what happens when we CHOOSE ( yes it’s a choice") to disobey God, He will send a storm your way.

I know, I know what you’re thinking! What kind of #MidweekMotivation is this?

LOL

I promise we’re going somewhere, stay with me.

Jonah’s disobedience not only caused a storm at sea which eventually landed him a cozy 3night stay ( no amenities included) in the fish’s belly but it almost caused the people of Nineveh to perish!

A WHOLE VILLAGE ALMOST PERISHED because Jonah didn't feel like going.

A ENTIRE PEOPLE, ALMOST GOT ALIENATED because Jonah didn’t feel qualified.

FAMILIES, CHIR’REN, MEN, GRANNIES, WOMEN, DOGS AND CATS, ALMOST GOT OVERTHROWN, because our boy Joshua ( who GOD appointed) was scared.

Fear, not knowing who you are and self qualification will make the people who God appointed to you perish because of your disobedience.

For one, it’s not about you! You’re not qualified enough! God qualifies! The quicker we realize that, the better off we will be able to do what God has called us to do.

For the sake of not writing a book, I will close with this, once Jonah realized his erroneous ways, he sought God, God spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah onto dry land.

The 3rd chapter states that the Lord came to Jonah the second time saying:

“ Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I tell you.” - Jonah 3:2

The same chapter states:

“ Nineveh was an exceedingly great city, a three day journey in extent. And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day’s walk…”

Here’s your #MidweekMotivation:

You can do what God tells you to do, not only will He equip you with what you need, He will make a 3 day journey, a one day journey. The proof is in HIS WORD.

If you have time, read the book of Jonah on your lunch, it’s 2 pages! It will bless you!

That said, consider this to be your #midweekmotivation to Arise and go to your proverbial Nineveh.

Be sure to forward this to someone who may be in need of some encouragement.
